It's been a while since I've reviewed anything, but all this talk about the new Firsthand Supply Styling Clay got me back on this review game. And I gotta say, it was well worth it to try something new.
I'd describe the scent as floral with a deep low-lying layer of vanilla. It makes it sweet but not in a tacky way. I like it a lot. The scent is wholly present but not in your face strong.
The new label is beautifully simple. I love the new logo. Tastefully minimal.
It's much thicker than the water-based pomade counterpart, but that's not bad really -- just different. The feeling is actually pretty satisfying. Like you just scooped out of thick peanut butter.
Despite being thicker, the application process is still as easy as ever. There's good grip to it, but nothing that will stop you from applying and getting the product where you need it.
Coarse and just enough without over drying your hair or getting too gritty. I would classify this on the spectrum with the rest of the clays we've seen as less texture. If you find yourself having trouble with the texture is high, then this might be perfect for you. Enough to still control.
Despite being grippy, this product ended up with more of a medium amount of hold.
Phenomenal. You can really style a beautifully shaped pomp with loose texture and average to above average volume.
Surprisingly good. Even without the product feeling super heavy, it did very well for a clay. It held onto this unique springiness and liveliness, which made it not only look good but restyle beautifully.
You can hold onto a surprising amount of volume and airy-ness that we often experience with clays. One of the worst things that can happen is that oil builds up during the day -- saturating the clay and weighing everything down. Didn't experience that with this product.
Not at all. This is one of the most comfortable clays I've used.
Washes out easily in one shower.
This unquestionably receives my seal of approval. Despite all the variety of clays we've seen in the recent past, this one stands out to me and is something I would use daily. It's clean. Light. Easy to work with. And best of all, doesn't hurt at all to restyle with during the day. This makes Firsthand Supply Styling Clay worthy of all the hype it's receive and my recommendation.
